■Seminar Description:
This seminar is intended for international students who wish to acquire a basic understanding of crystallography, the principles of X-ray diffraction, and crystal structure analysis using single crystal and powder diffraction data. Graduate students and researchers who wish to audit the seminar in English can also register.

In the lecture portion, students will be introduced to crystal lattices, crystal symmetry, theoretical and experimental X-ray diffraction, crystal structure solution method, and X-ray powder diffraction methods. Students completing the lecture portion may opt to take the laboratory course, where they will learn how to design crystallographic and powder diffraction experiments. Detailed instruction on sample preparation, diffraction measurement, data collection, structure solutions and structure determination will be provided.

The seminar will be limited to 20 participants.
